Bird of Paradise - Original Watercolor

Bird of Paradise, or Strelitzia reginae, is a tropical flower native to South Africa. They're commonly used as landscape plants in tropical & subtropical areas around the world - including in my town in Southwest Florida, the inspiration for this painting. Strelitzia are members of the Zingiberales family, making them closely related to Bananas, Gingers, and Calatheas.
