Watercolor study of Atala butterflies (Eumaeus atala) on a Coontie Palm (Zamia integrifolia), their host plant native to Florida. Atalas are a minute hairstreak butterfly species, once thought to be extirpated from Florida, but their population has made a comeback in recent decades thanks to conservation efforts and use of the coontie plant in landscaping around southern Florida.

High quality print of an original watercolor painting on matte fine art paper. Signed by the artist. Unframed, ships flat in a protective sleeve with backing board.
